Wanaka has an active pride community, but there is always opportunity to encourage displays of inclusion and diversity and empower our businesses and wider community to better understand diversity and visually show this support to create safe and inclusive communities that embrace diverse thinking.

With the goal of leadership and collaboration, Ignite Wanaka Chamber approached Pride Pledge to develop the initiative in Wanaka with the focus to raise awareness of the values of safety, inclusiveness and health for all LGBTTQ+ (rainbow) people.

Training and Development for organisations starting their diversity and Inclusion journey is one of the key goals of the Pride Pledge Wanaka to improve awareness among leaders and teams, and to empower organisations to have conversations towards becoming inclusive.

As well as providing regular hosted events by Pride Pledge members for the LGBTTQ+ community, Ignite Wanaka aims to work with Mount Aspiring College and other agencies to support the initiative.
